Before & After: A Simple Living Room Refresh with Big Impact

Not every transformation requires a full renovation. In this recent living room project, we kept the existing layout and architecture completely intact—and focused instead on adding built-in bookcases, new furniture, and layered decor to bring fresh life and function to the space.

The Design Challenge

The homeowners wanted their living room to feel more cozy and inviting, but didn’t need or want a complete overhaul. They already had a great foundation—we just needed to build on it with a few intentional updates.

What We Added

  • Custom Built-In Bookcases: These bookcases completely transformed the room. They now serve as a focal point while offering beautiful storage and a place to showcase books, artwork, and meaningful objects.

  • New Furniture: We selected pieces that matched both the scale of the room and the family’s lifestyle. From the custom sectional, to an upholstered coffee table and fun rug, every piece was chosen to enhance comfort and flow.

  • Styled Decor: The finishing touches are what brought it all together—pillows, throws, curated shelf styling, and lighting made the space feel truly lived-in and loved.

The Result

The living room now feels warm and welcoming—a space that’s not only beautiful but also works hard for the family that lives in it. It’s proof that small, strategic updates can deliver a major transformation.

The homeowners were thrilled with the transformation, sharing that “The living has become the go to hang out space for us all and the dogs! Rock, paper, scissors are needed to see how gets the corner spot on the new couch!”

It’s always our goal to design a space that not only looks great, but truly supports the way our clients live.

Thinking about refreshing your living room?
You don’t always need to start from scratch. With a few thoughtful changes—like built-ins, updated furnishings, and purposeful styling—you can create a space that feels entirely new.
